Meet your Facilitator!
Chef Steve Welch
Steve grew up in NW Pennsylvania where he assisted his dad in various catering events in his early teens. After graduating from High School, he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard where he graduated first in his class in cook school. After serving he went home and helped open a restaurant in SW NY, before heading to the Culinary Institute of America where he earned his degree in Culinary Arts. After living in Western NY, he moved to Florida shortly after his wedding and continued to be an Executive Chef in prominent Orland Restaurants and Hotels. They moved to SW Florida in 2002 and have made this home. He was the Executive Chef at Cabbage Key when they won Best Seafood Shack in Travel and Leisure Magazine. He left there in 2013 and has worked for Five Star Senior Living ever since he is the Food and Beverage Director for the Palms making sure Seniors get the best meals and service, while living in a safe and fun atmosphere. At home he has a year-round garden and makes his own hot sauces and creates dinners with his herbs and vegetables for friends and family.
